Joshua Greer, President and Co-Founder

Joshua Greer has been identifying new technologies and turning them into profitable products and businesses for over 20 years. As President and Co-Founder of REAL D, Joshua’s ability to recognize early technology and market trends, quickly locking up critical IP, has allowed REAL D to quickly become the standard for 3D presentations.

Previously, Greer was Co-Founder and Chief Convergence Officer of Walden Media, where he was responsible for overseeing all of the company’s technology and infrastructure, and was involved in the development of such films as The Chronicles of Narnia, Holes, and Charlotte’s Web, as well as James Cameron's’ 3D documentaries for IMAX, Ghosts of the Abyss and Aliens of the Deep. It was his work with Cameron, designing the first all-digital 3D projection system, which first inspired him to create REAL D along with Michael Lewis.

Prior to that, Greer was President of Digital Domain’s New Media Group, where he was responsible for overseeing all of the company’s cutting edge products including the highly successful Barbie Fashion Designer Series and Lego Logic. At Digital Domain, he also produced the first-ever streaming media site for General Motors.

Prior to Digital Domain, Greer was CEO and Co-Founder of Digital Planet, the award-winning digital design studio. It was during that time Mr. Greer navigated the twin worlds of entertainment and technology and was responsible for bringing the company’s studio clients into the digital age, designing and implementing web strategies for MCA/Universal, MGM/UA, 20th Century Fox and Sony. While at Digital Planet, Greer also oversaw the design of the first 300 DVD titles, helping Warner Brothers launch the DVD market in 1998. He has spoken to audiences around the world on turning technologies into products and businesses and participates on a number of key standards groups including SMPTE, ATSC, IEEE, and SPIE.
